Cotopaxi’s design philosophy of honesty, fun, innovation, and simplicity serves the dual purpose of creating gear that expresses individuality and a company that maintains integrity with both producer and consumer.


When it comes to design, Cotopaxi Apparel Director Cheri Sanguinetti is always on the prowl. She constantly collects bits and pieces of what she likes from her surroundings in hopes that these details will spark her next fit, pattern, or color combination.

“I’ve been known to ask a stranger, or two, if I could snap a photo of their pant pocket, etc. It’s part of my routine of constantly scanning my environment, searching for that next bit of inspiration.”

While Cheri designs the apparel, Cotopaxi VP of Product CJ Whittaker designs the packs. “We’re different types of designers, but we vibe off each other,” says Cheri. “It just so turns out that we’re on the same page and product looks like it’s from the same family. It’s a really cool thing.”
