Cotopaxi Questival is a 24 hour adventure race designed to inspire people to explore their cities and surrounding areas with old and new friends. Jill Hamilton, competitor in Colorado Questival shares her Questival experience.
Tucked in a valley between two steep plateaus, I woke up the morning after Questival exhausted, dirty, and still breathless from adventure. Our team of three started in downtown Denver, traveled southwest through the winding roads of the Rocky Mountains, and ended up hundreds of miles away, sprawled in a field overlooking the Mesa Verde cliff dwellings.
Questival is a free pass to absurdity. Twenty-four hours with complete permission to go anywhere, do anything, and interact with anyone you choose. It urges you to live with beautiful spontaneity, and to take time for moments that are often lost in our busy lives.
In the coming year, I’ll continue to wander through my city on foot, with no other reason than for the pure joy of exploration. I’ll swim in more streams, stop in more small towns, and value the journey as much as the destination. I’ll look for opportunities to brighten someone’s day, and strive to continually show appreciation for the people I love.
Questival is a whirlwind of everything good, a 24-hour training session on how to live life to the fullest. It was exhilarating, humbling, and just what I needed. I know I’ll be back next year.
